Chapter 4: Clean-Up Day

Saturday arrived, and the sun was shining, but Liam and Maya felt nervous. What if no one came?
At five minutes past nine, they looked at the big blue sign. There were two other families. “Oh, well,” Liam whispered, “at least we tried.”
Suddenly, a big cheer went up behind them. Around the corner marched their entire street! Mr. Henderson was pushing a wheelbarrow, Mrs. Chen had a stack of thick gloves, and all the kids had plastic bags ready. Even the grumpy man from the corner house was there!
“Look at this turnout!” said Mrs. Chen. “You two did a brilliant job organising this.”
Liam and Maya smiled, their nervousness gone. They passed out the gloves and bags and gave everyone their instructions: “Safety first, and don’t touch anything sharp!”
