Chapter 5: The Sparkling Shore

The Great Beach Clean-Up was a huge success. The team worked for nearly two hours. The grown-ups lifted the heavy pieces of wood and fishing nets, while the children searched carefully in the sand and under the bushes for smaller items like bottle caps and straws.

They filled ten huge, black garbage bags!

When they were finished, Safety Beach was sparkling. The sand looked whiter, the ocean looked bluer, and the air smelled fresh.

Mrs. Henderson bought everyone ice blocks as a thank you. As Liam and Maya ate their icy treats, they looked out at the beautiful, clean beach.

“We did it,” Maya said, licking the melting juice from her fingers. “It just shows what a few people can do when they work together.”

Liam nodded. He knew this feeling was better than finding a dozen crabs. They hadn’t just cleaned the beach; they had helped their whole community.
