Chapter 1: Joey the Kangaroo
Joey was a little kangaroo who loved to hop. He lived in the bush with his mum. Every morning, Joey hopped over rocks and under gum trees. One sunny day, Joey saw something strange on the ground.
“What’s that?” Joey asked.
It was a red hat!
Chapter 2: The Hat Adventure
Joey picked up the hat. It was soft and round. He put it on his head. It was too big! The hat fell over his eyes.
“I can’t see!” Joey giggled.
He hopped around with the hat on. He bumped into a tree!
Chapter 3: Who Lost the Hat?
Joey wanted to find who lost the hat. He asked Kiki the kookaburra.
“Is this your hat?” Joey asked.
“No,” said Kiki. “My head is too small!”
Joey asked Wally the wombat.
“Is this your hat?” Joey asked.
“No,” said Wally. “I like caps, not hats!”
Chapter 4: A Hat for Mum
Joey hopped home. He showed the hat to Mum.
“Look what I found!” he said.
Mum smiled.
“That’s my gardening hat!” she said.
Joey gave Mum a big hug.
Chapter 5: A Happy Ending
Mum put on her hat. Joey helped her water the flowers. The sun was warm, and the gum trees danced in the breeze.
“You’re a good helper,” Mum said.
Joey smiled. He was happy he found the hat.
