Chapter 1: A Day Out

Lily and Tom loved the beach. Today, their Mum drove them in their old, red truck. The truck rattled and bumped down the dirt road. Lily held a bucket and Tom held a spade. “Last one to the water is a rotten egg!” shouted Tom.
Chapter 2: Building the Castle
The sand was soft and cool under their feet. Lily and Tom quickly got to work. They used the bucket to make round towers. They used the spade to dig a deep moat. Their sandcastle was huge and strong.

Chapter 3: The Big Wave

A big, blue wave rolled closer to the shore. SWISH! The water rushed up the beach. Tom shouted, “Run, castle, run!” But the castle could not run. The big wave washed right over the moat and up to the towers.
Chapter 4: Oh No!
The top of the biggest tower fell down. The water made the sand wobble and melt. Lily looked sad. “Now it’s just a sandy puddle,” she sighed. Mum came over and gave them a towel to dry their hands.

Chapter 5: Start Again

“It’s okay,” said Mum. “That’s what happens at the beach. We can build it again, and this time, we will build it even bigger!” Lily and Tom smiled. They started smoothing out the wet sand. Building sandcastles was the best game.
