Chapter 1: The Invitation

Penny the Possum lived high in a gum tree. Penny was turning seven! She was having a party. She wrote little notes on eucalyptus leaves. The notes were invitations for all her bush friends.
Chapter 2: What to Wear?
Penny worried about what to wear. Should she wear her favourite red scarf? Or should she wear a wreath of yellow wattle flowers? Her best friend, Kevin the Koala, came over to help. “Just wear your smile, Penny!” he yawned.

Chapter 3: The Best Food

For the party, Penny made lots of yummy food. She had sweet nectar for the sugar gliders. She had crunchy seeds for the parrots. And she had fresh, soft gum leaves for Kevin the Koala. Everything was ready.
Chapter 4: Fun Games
The party began just as the sun went down. Mrs. Kookaburra arrived first, laughing her famous laugh. The friends played ‘Hide and Seek’ in the big tree branches. Penny was very good at hiding.

Chapter 5: Happy Birthday
When it was time for cake (it was a big, sticky honey cake), everyone sang. “Happy Birthday, dear Penny!” Penny blew out the little candle. She felt very lucky. Having good friends made her the happiest possum in the whole bush.
